Immigration and the changing nature of work – Canadian Immigration Summit 2020
13 May - 14 May
In its sixth year, the Summit will explore how immigration can respond proactively to labour-market pressures and ensure that Canada’s immigrants contribute fully to our economy. Join over 300 delegates to discuss the major immigration-related issues impacting your organization:
- Technology and demographics are changing the workplace. How can Canada improve its immigration system to respond quickly to labour-market needs and strengthen our economy for both established Canadians and new immigrants?
- Canada’s unemployment rate is hovering at record low levels due to strong job creation and increasing retirements. Evidence suggests parts of the country are already supply-constrained. Economic immigration has been accelerated recently, but is it enough to ensure we have the talent needed to continue to grow our economy?
The Summit will examine key drivers of economic, social, and technological change that could affect our immigration system. The goal is to assess various plausible immigration scenarios and consider how Canada can benefit from opportunities while mitigating threats in support of a stronger, more vibrant country. Expert speakers will challenge us to expand our horizons by testing our underlying assumptions and inviting us to think and plan beyond the short term.
